St. Leonards to host migrant and refugee employment expo

An expo will be held in St. Leonards this October and will be aimed at assisting new migrants and refugees move into sustainable employment.

Held in conjunction with the Lower North Shore Multicultural Interagency and local councils, the expo will feature the launch of the Migrant and Refugee Employment Guide.

Written in easy to understand English, the guide contains information with practical tips, advice and resources for people new to the country who are looking for training, employment or wish to undertake a new business venture.

The guide is to be launched by TAFE NSW and will be uploaded onto the four Lower North Shore Council websites.

Attendees will be able to connect with a variety of services and information at the expo, pertaining to job seeking and long term employment. Job placement agencies, local council and government services, prospective employers and volunteers will all have stands where people can discuss their personal situation and receive practical advice. Brochure printing may be used to create informative material for attendees of events like this.

Presentations will be held throughout the day on subjects such as how to write a resumé, tips for interviews and how to use LinkedIn as a means of building a personal online presence.

The expo will be held on Wednesday 23rd October at 9am at TAFE NSW in St. Leonards.
