Plans for new high-rise in St. Leonards

St. Leonards may get a new 43-level tower as an addition to its current skyline, based on a development proposal submitted to council by Anson City Developments.

The residential/commercial tower is proposed to accommodate 195 apartment units and a six-storey podium. Apart from the usual offices and ground floor retail area, there will also be a community arts centre and a sky garden. Studio spaces and galleries within the art centre will provide opportunities for local artists to showcase their talent, network, and share their Business Cards with the local community.

Also included in the project’s building proposal are plans to improve the surroundings of the building site – for example, pedestrian space will be increased and more greenery will be added to the area.

The site for the new building is at 617-621 Pacific Highway, within walking distance of the nearby train station. The new tower will replace two old buildings that currently sit on the land.

According to Tom Hu, who acts as project director of the proposed development, the project will create new work opportunities while also increasing housing supply in the area. He added that the location of the site is good in the sense that people can simply walk to catch public transport, and visit the nearby retail, education, and health facilities.

People interested in purchasing an apartment can register their interest with real estate agents who will provide professional advice and notify the potential buyer of any new properties on the market. Agents can be reached via contact details on their Business Cards or through word of mouth.
