Event to celebrate cultural diversity with focus on herbs

The rich cultural diversity of St. Leonards and Willoughby is to be celebrated at Herbs for a Healthy Home in the Chatswood Mall.

A variety of demonstrations and activities will be featured at the event to be held in conjunction with the Chatswood Mall Market.

Willoughby Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said visitors to Herbs for a Healthy Home will see the health benefits of their favourite herbs showcased during the event, which will also provide Flyers and Booklets on their cultural significance, origin and cooking.

She said there will be something for everyone, ranging from information stalls and pop-up libraries, to cultural group performances and a host of food demonstrations.

The information stalls will also highlight Willoughby’s Time to Grow garden share, healthy living and sustainability programmes.

Printing services have also been in full swing preparing Herbs for a Healthy Home information cards which will be on hand for all visitors to take home.

She said the cards were created in collaboration with members of the area’s multicultural community, and will highlight the many health benefits of using herbs.

Mayor Giles-Gidney urged residents to help celebrate the area’s rich multicultural heritage by attending this year’s event, which she describes as a “wonderful initiative” that promotes participation, inclusiveness and a feeling of belonging among all people.

Herbs for a Healthy Home will be held in the Chatswood Mall on March 24.
