Community invited to share in festival fun

Residents of St. Leonards and throughout the Lane Cove Council area will have an opportunity to enjoy a month-long programme of festival fun, full of exhibitions, live music, special talks and more during September.

The Lane Cove Festival, held annually, is among the area’s most popular celebrations and brings together a host of council and community-run events.

This year’s festival patron, Bridget Kennedy, said the 2019 programme was extensive and included everything from sporting activities, talks and walks to film screenings, exhibitions, music and workshops, adding:

“It offers so many opportunities for us as a community to come together, connect with new neighbours and build on existing relationships.”


She said the diverse array of events will highlight everything from the area’s natural bush environment to its exquisite arts. The programme, stretching from August 30 to September 30, is extensive with something for adults and children of all ages.

A sample of events to be featured includes Games in the Plaza, Bush Kids Bush Treasures, Coffee Carnevale, Dragon Boating on the Lane Cove River, Lane Cove Fun Run, Jud Bailey ‘At Your Request’ Concert, Robotics Workshop at Synegry Youth Centre, Lane Cove Makers Market, Cult Classic Screen on the Green and The Big Family Fun Ride.

Activities will also include learning about 3D printing and how to modify and source a basic design with participants able to use local library printing services to Print out their individual designs.
