Theatre show for children to head to Newcastle

A local theatre in Newcastle has announced it is welcoming a multi-media stage production designed for young children.

Families with children aged one to six can now book tickets for the show, which is headed for the suburb this winter. Titled “Where is the Green Sheep?”, the production blends puppetry, animation and narration to create a unique theatre experience especially aimed at little ones.

Proudly presented by the Monkey Baa Theatre Company, the immersive show is based on the much-loved children’s book by author Mem Fox and cartoonist Judy Horacek.

Theatres presenting plays based on picture Books sometimes work with poster printing services to make engaging ads featuring easily recognisable illustrations from their pages.

Parents and children watching the show can join three farmers as they search for the Green Sheep, encountering many others along the way. These include bubble-loving Bath Sheep, cartwheeling Red Sheep, bouncing Bed Sheep and the Blue Sheep, who is passionate about flowers.

The show was created with assistance from the Bankstown West Public School and integrates student voices as story narrators. The creators felt this would help the production resonate with younger audiences.

Where is the Green Sheep? will now be performed live on stage at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle from Thursday, July 9 to Saturday, July 11. The theatre is easy to locate on Hunter Street in Newcastle.
