A respected events venue in Newcastle is extending a welcome to a famous American musician known for his unique vocals and pop-rock piano playing.

Ben Folds is both a New York Times best-selling author and an Emmy Award-nominated singer and songwriter. This spring, he will appear on stage in Newcastle in a back-to-basics show presented by Frontier Touring called Ben Folds & A Piano.

The Australian tour, which also includes shows in Geelong and Hobart, will see Folds performing hits from the past and present while sharing tales from his career as a platinum status singer-songwriter, which has spanned more than three decades.

Fans attending the show in Newcastle will be treated to tracks from his solo years as well as songs from his days fronting the Ben Fold Five Trio, like Underground, Song for the Dumped, Philosophy and Brick, among others.

Ben Folds & A Piano will now take centre stage at the Civic Theatre on Thursday, October 1. The show starts at 8 pm with a performance from US artist, model and actress Lindsey Kraft, who is supporting Folds on his tour. The theatre is situated at 375 Hunter Street in Newcastle and tickets are priced between $89 and $119.
