Surfing festival to feature in Newcastle region

Newcastle locals are preparing for a much-loved surfing festival to return to the area in March.

Presented by Bonsoy, the festival has grown from its pioneering beginnings in 1985 to become the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

The festival brings together over 800 male and female national and international competitors. It culminates with the last event of the 2025/2026 World Surf League Challenger Series, which will see 120 of the best up-and-comers in surfing seek to qualify for the 2026 Championship Tour.

Attendees can take advantage of the bar, café and restaurant facilities on site, as well as the family-friendly, pet-friendly atmosphere.

The festival is made possible with partnership from the NSW Government, Destination NSW and City of Newcastle. Previous champions include acclaimed surfers Mick Fanning, a three-time festival and world champion, Mark Occhilupo, Tom Carroll, Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons.

Brochure printing can be a great way to promote an event like this one in the community. Contemporary, informative and attractive Brochures help capture interest, share important details and draw attendance from locals in the area.

The Newcastle Surfest Challenger Series will take place from Monday, 9 March, to Sunday, 15 March. The venue will be Mereweather Beach, John Parade, Mereweather. More details of the surfing competition will be released closer to the time on the official event website.
