What's Happening in Cheyenne, WY…

Special needs session with Santa planned for Cheyenne

Children and adults with autism and sensory processing disorders can often feel overwhelmed by a traditional visit with Santa, but a Cheyenne event will give them a chance to do so in an environment that makes it fun for them.

The Frontier Mall will be hosting a set time for special needs kids and adults to visit with the “jolly old elf” as part of the Santa Cares program. Those who attend will be able to enjoy the visit in an environment that is calm and quiet, and free of the large crowds and noise that can often be a part of such a visit. The lights will also be kept low to help avoid over stimulation.

The sessions will be booked on an individual basis, and during their time slot, the whole family is welcome to join in. Only one ticket will be needed for the whole group. Photos will be taken, and parents or caregivers are welcome to order their package during their session. Coloring books, activity sheets, signage and other printed materials for this type of occasion can be provide by an area print company.

This special session with Santa will be taking place in the Frontier Mall on December 1. Those who are interested in bringing their child can find out more about the Santa Cares program by visiting its website.
