Cheyenne steam locomotive preparing for cross-country journey
Six decades ago, the steam locomotive dubbed ‘Big Boy No. 4041’ last rode the rails. In 2019, the Cheyenne Depot Museum will be taking a step back in time when this powerful train engine once again takes to the tracks for a cross-country trip.
The operators of the museum have invited everyone to be a part of this historic day, and the assembled crowd will bid the train and its operators a fond farewell as it starts out for its journey across America. It will serve as a piece of living history, and offer the public a glimpse into the golden age of rail.
Guests for the occasion can start arriving at 7:00 am, and they are welcome to mingle and enjoy each other’s company while they count down to minutes until departure time. Big Boy 4041 will arrive at the depot at 8:30 am, be christened at 9:30 am, and at 10:00 am, it will chug away down the tracks to start its journey.
An event like this can be both fun and educational. A print shop can offer many train-themed promotional products that can be offered to the public that attends a function like this as a memento of the experience.
The Cheyenne Depot Museum will be hosting the special event on May 4. It is located at 121 West 15th Street.
