What's Happening in Cheyenne, WY…

Cheyenne invited to take a polar plunge

This January, some daring souls from Cheyenne will be taking to the icy waters of Sloan Lake in support of former military members and their families.

This will mark the sixth year for the Schwartz Memorial Plunge, which is held each year in memory of Sgt. Matthew Schwartz. The event will see people in funny costumes and other outfits taking an icy dip, with some staying to splash around and others simply running in to get wet and then going straight back out again. Afterwards, there will be time for the bathers to warm up and mingle with one another.

The participants will be taking the plunge in the afternoon, and will gather at the Kiwanis Community House to register before doing so. They are reminded to bring along a dry towel and warm clothes to change into afterwards. Local stationery printers can use graphic design to craft certificates that thank each of the bathers for their participation in this activity.

This chilly event has been organized in support of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Warrior Foundation (EODWF), which is a group that lends financial and other support to wounded, ill or injured EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) veterans. January 27th has been chosen as the day, with the plunge at 1:00 pm, and more details can be found on its website.
