What's Happening in Cheyenne, WY…

Cheyenne course to teach techniques for managing wide area searches

When searching for a person who is missing, every minute counts, and a Cheyenne course will equip those who take part with skills they can use to make the most from a wide area search.

The training, which will use a combination of instructions and hands-on experience using realistic scenarios, will last for three days. At the end of the event, there will be an in-depth exercise that will give the students an opportunity to put what they have learned into practice.

Participants will be trained in planning and performing searches over a wide area, and the instructors will have a lot of experience in the field. While there are no prerequisites needed, the organizers highly recommend that anyone who plans on taking the course has already completed their FEMA IS-100 a and IS-200- b instruction before taking part.

Funding for this learning opportunity has bene provided by the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency. It is open to those who have a FEMA SID number, and it is being offered free of charge. Customized promotional pens can be prepared by a printer to distribute to the students in a course like this.

The Cheyenne Fire Training Facility will be the location for this training, which will be offered starting on September 9. Additional details can be found on its online event listing.
