What's Happening in Cheyenne, WY…

Cheyenne Arboretum to host walk and talk

Many of the plants native to Wyoming have adapted to grow in tough conditions, and these will be the focus of an activity organized by the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens.

Attendees in the Superstars of the High Plains Arboretum walk and talk will have the chance to learn more about the species of plants that call the area home. Anyone interested will need to pre-register, and the fee to take part is $10 per person.

The walk, which will be led by Jessica Friss, will introduce attendees to the shrubs and trees that have survived well in local growing conditions. They will find out about how they have evolved to adapt to the area's climate, soil, and other challenges to their survival, and they may even be inspired to add some to their own home garden. The walk will run for approximately one and half hours.

Adding native species to a planting can be a simple way to show some love to Mother Nature. Species checklists, sheets offering tips, and a variety of other materials for a horticultural event can be ordered from a local flyer printing company.

The Superstars of the High Plains Arboretum has been scheduled for July 12. It will run from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm, and parking is available at the venue. Signage will be posted to make it easier to find.
