What's Happening in Brookfield, WI…

Slim McGinns pub to take on new name

An established Irish pub in Brookfield, Slim McGinn’s, will change its name and focus this month following the retirement of its eponymous owner.

Slim McGinn’s Irish Pub was founded in Brookfield in 2008, the third of three establishments in the Milwaukee area owned by entrepreneur and former bartender McGinn. Having sold his other bars, Slim’s and McGinn’s, he will now pass the reigns of the Brookfield bar over to Bob Meuler. With the new owner comes a new name, that of Bobby’s Bar: Great Place Good Times. Bobby’s Bar will feature many of the same staff as Slim McGinn’s and hope to capture the same atmosphere.

Bobby’s Bar will start out by serving a portion of Slim McGinn’s former menu, gradually introducing more items and specials like weekend breakfast to establish a new identity. Rebranding is typically a long process involving items like new logo design, social media outreach and graphic design, but can create major growth if carried out well. Mueler also hopes to establish Bobby’s Bar as a center of charity in the community, with 5% of the bar’s proceeds going to children’s charities.

Slim McGinn’s will mark its last day as an Irish pub on Sunday, August 16, then reopen as Bobby’s Bar the following week. Slim McGinn and his family will continue being involved in the Wisconsin State fair, as well as arranging pub tours to Ireland.
