Brookfield show to feature fishing history

Brookfield will play host to the upcoming Great Milwaukee Classic, a collector show for lures, tackle, and other fishing equipment.

The show will feature tables by local collectors and vendors showing off their wares. Fishing lures and tackle have many unique types of decoration, making them a popular focus for collectors. The items available at this show range from 1800s antiques to modern rarities. The show will begin with a discovery auction, followed by a casting competition using classic and collectors’ fishing rods. The main marketplace will take place over the final two days, with a silent auction going on throughout the day and a live auction taking place on the Friday evening.

The Great Milwaukee Classic is hosted by local enthusiasts Chris Slusar and Larry Fonk, under the auspices of the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club, a non-profit organization that holds dozens of regional shows such as this, and an annual National Meet, to be hosted this summer in Springfield, Illinois. It supports the local events by hosting their flyer printing and other marketing on a central website in digital form. The Milwaukee show will provide free admission to children and veterans, hoping to create a family-friendly atmosphere.

The 2022 edition of the Great Milwaukee Classic will take place at the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel between January 12 and 15.
