Brookfield prepares for holiday festivities
The Tree Lighting Ceremony and German Holiday Market will take place this December.
A German-themed market, complete with dancers and vendors, will be set up to celebrate Seligenstadt in Germany, which is Brookfield’s sister city. Hosted annually by the Brookfield International Friendship Association, this event will include food, German entertainment, music, holiday gift items, children’s activities, and hayrides.
Indoor activities from 1:00 to 5:30 pm will include craft making, storytime, and writing letters to Santa. Outdoor fun at the Civic Plaza from 2:00 to 6:00 pm will also include the Warming Fire, games, a Free S’mores Event, and the Tree Lighting Ceremony starting at 5:45 pm.
Stage performances starting off at 1:00 pm will include several bands and choirs, including the Milwaukee Liederkranz Award Winning Men’s Choir and Kindergruppe German Dancers, and ending with a Holiday Sing-Along.
Concessions will include premium meat items from Ney’s brand, including beer brats, and prime rib burgers. Dessert items will be sold by Madam Sweets. The event hosts will offer hot cider drinks and Dunkel and Pilsner German beer.
Vendors will sell a large variety of items including flags and accessories, clothes, food, children's books, home and holiday decor, and food specialty items.
Other well-known vendors to be present include LaGrie Fiber Arts, Urban Blooms, and Marcus Tavern Theatre. Business cards are often used at holiday events so that vendors can introduce themselves to customers.
The location of the event will be 2000 North Calhoun Road at the Civic Plaza at Brookfield City Hall on Saturday, December 7.
