What's Happening in Brookfield, WI…

Brookfield is gateway to Wisconsin for Portillos

After much anticipation, Portillo’s, Chicago’s iconic hot dog eatery, is laying the groundwork to open its first restaurant in Wisconsin, and it has chosen Brookfield as its inaugural location.

Portillo’s has submitted plans for a restaurant to be built in The Shoppes at the Corridor, on the former site of Ruby Farms. The company has submitted plans and awaits the Plan Commission’s approval. Following Commission and City Council review, and assuming the green light isgiven, the Brookfield Portillo’ is anticipated to open in the last half of 2016.

Although the restaurant’s reputation precedes it, there will nevertheless likely be a varied and escalating promotion of Portillo’s pending arrival, culminating with the use of a banner printing service to drum up excitement.

According to a press release from the company, the Chicagoland restaurant has received considerable interest from Wisconsin residents for the chain to expand into the state. In the announcement of its foray into this new territory, company CEO Keith Kinsey stated:

"We are excited at the opportunity to bring Portillo's to Brookfield, Wisconsin. We look forward to introducing the greater Milwaukee area to our legendary food and service."

Portillo’s rich history began with its launch as a humble hot dog stand in Chicago in 1963. Since then, it has evolved into a restaurant chain with locations in Los Angeles and Phoenix, with Tampa also on the horizon. Portillo’s greatest concentration of restaurants, however, remains in the greater Chicago area.
