Special evening snowshoe to be held near Baraboo

Baraboo residents who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors, and are looking for an activity that is a little out of the ordinary, are invited to take part in a special event at Devil’s Lake State Park.

The park is once again hosting an evening of candlelight snowshoeing or hiking. The activity type will depend upon the weather, but it will take place in one form or another, rain or shine. The self-guided trail will be lit with soft lighting, and there will also be a chance to warm up by the bonfire while sipping a hot chocolate and enjoying a freshly made s’more.

Those who do not have snowshoes are still welcome to come, as there will be a variety of pairs available for them to borrow. They are reminded to dress for the weather, as it could be chilly.

The event is being hosted by The Friends of Devil’s Lake State Park, which is located three miles south of Baraboo on Highway 159. Those who want to take part are invited to come out to the park’s north shore and meet at the Rock Elm Shelter at 6:00 pm on Saturday, February 20. A company that provides printing services will be able to produce maps and other items for those who participate in the evening.
