Good growing season helps Baraboo Christmas tree firms offer more

With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, the Christmas tree farms in Baraboo are now open for business.

According to both Christmas Valley Tree Farm and Christmas Treeland, last year provided their trees with favourable growing conditions, and they lost fewer trees than they had in previous growing seasons. For instance, Christmas Valley Farm lost only a few hundred trees, while in the previous two years, it lost 10,000.

Though there was a brief dry period during the summer months, it was not enough to do serious damage, resulting in fewer trees being lost. This translates into a cost savings for the tree growers, as they will have to plant fewer seedlings to make up the difference.

Both growers report that choosing a live tree is still a popular option, and many local families have made a tradition of coming to pick one out. Since many people also like to purchase fresh evergreen wreaths, Christmas Treeland will offer these for sale, as well as other holiday-related decor items.

Christmas Valley Farm is also a designated drop off point for toys and other donations to the Kops for Kids program. People can drop off unwrapped gifts or money, and it will be given to the charity.

Since Christmas trees are only for sale for sale for a brief period of time, it is vital that the growers promote themselves. Printing companies can help with this by creating advertising materials that best suit the needs of the grower in question.
