Wisconsin’s DNR (Department of Natural Resources) is inviting the public to come to Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo to celebrate Earth Day.
This year’s theme for Earth Day is “Invest in our Planet”, and visitors can do their bit by taking part in clean-up projects in the picnic area, campground, and on the beach. All ages are welcome and volunteers are welcome to stop by whenever they like and stay for as long as they please. Participants are reminded to bring work gloves and wear sturdy shoes.
Earth Day was born in Wisconsin, the brainchild of native son Governor Gaylord Nelson, with the intent of raising awareness of pollution. The concept has spread to become a worldwide event.
Both banner printing and poster printing services are useful for reminding the public of a yearly event.
Following the clean-up, which takes place on April 22, the DNR will be hosting a family-friendly event that includes naturalist-led projects and crafts. Food trucks will be on hand from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for those wishing to purchase something to eat and drink. At dusk, visitors can also take part in an evening torch-lit hike over a one-mile trail loop featuring Earth Day-themed prizes and trivia.
An admission pass for the Wisconsin state park system is needed to enter Devil’s Lake Park and participate in the Earth Day clean-up and celebration. Pass purchases can be made online or onsite the day of the event.
