Tacoma zoo to hold special weekend featuring big cats

The Port Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma will be hosting a special event dedicated to wild members of the feline family.

The facility will be holding a Wild Cat Weekend that will shine a spotlight on these creatures. They will receive special attention, and visitors will be able to learn more about them and how they can use the choices they make in their daily lives to help ensure the long-term survival of such species as clouded leopards and tigers.

According to Karen Goodrowe Beck, who is the zoo’s General Curator and also the vice chairperson for the North American Species Survival Plan for Sumatran Tigers, these cats, especially tigers, are under increasing pressure in their native habitats and could face extinction in the wild if something is not done to protect them. She further went on to explain that locals have an opportunity to see them up close and find out more about what they can do to help. A printer can lend a hand in this type of conservation effort by producing a variety of Promotional Products to help raise awareness about the conservation efforts being made at the zoo.

Wild Cat Weekend will take place on July 30 and 31, starting at 10:00 am at the Port Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. Further details about the events and the zoo’s conservation efforts can be found on its website.
