College in Tacoma to build new residence hall

A new housing and dining development has been approved for the University of Washington in Tacoma (UWT). When completed, it will house 500 students.

This will be the first traditional dining hall at the university. The approval of this new building is part of an effort by the Board of Regents to change the character of UWT from that of a commuter campus to one that is more residential. It is also part of the broader master plan of UWT to double the enrollment of the university from 5,000 to 10,000 students and expand its physical footprint in Tacoma.

Now the university can solicit proposals from developers for the construction of the building. The director of communications for UWT, Elizabeth Metcalf, said that there is no projected construction cost yet for this housing and dining project.

Once the building is completed, the boundaries of the campus will run from Pacific Avenue to Tacoma Avenue and from S. 17th Street to S. 21st Street. It will also join the one other residence gall on campus, which is the Court 17 Residence Hall that has 287 beds for students.

Local Print shops can be engaged to design and produce high-quality Brochures and other printed materials that provide in-depth information about such projects, serving as powerful tools to attract prospective students.

The new building is expected to open in late 2029.
