New vehicle dealership to come to Tacoma

Tacoma will become the home of a new state-of-the-art Regional Distribution Center in Tacoma, made possible by an investment of $37.7 million by The Volvo group.

It will span 115,000 square feet and will enable The Volvo Group to better support its dealers selling Mack Trucks, Penta and Volvo Construction Equipment, and Volvo Trucks in North America.

About 20 people will be employed in the new facility and will play an important role in in optimizing the delivery of parts and expanding its coverage to dealers in western Canada and the northwest United States. For close to 240 dealers, it will become the main Regional Distribution Center (RDC) and reduce the time for delivery on stock orders by an average of one to days. It is also expected to help The Volvo Group reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by centralizing the distribution of orders closer to its dealers.

The vice president of service market logistics for Volvo Group North America, Peter Andell, said that this facility is a major expansion of the parts distribution capabilities of The Volvo Group and will enable the company to improve reliability and reduce transportation lead times.

The RDC is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027 and once operational and annual fulfillment is expected to exceed 500,000 individual order line items.
