For people who are interested in eating locally sourced foods, raising backyard chickens can be a popular choice. During an upcoming Tacoma workshop, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the benefits of owning their own poultry flock. .
Metro Parks Tacoma has partnered with GardenSphere to host an information and training session where attendees can learn about raising chickens on their own property. The workshop will include details about everything from how to house and care for the birds to the legalities about raising livestock at home. Also included in the discussion will be topics such as how to feed the chickens throughout the different stages of their lives, how to manage a flock so that its members are happy and productive, and more.
The session is open to anyone over the age of 16, and the fee to participate is $25 each. A Print company can be called upon to supply handouts and other materials to be distributed to each person who takes part in an event like this.
