Tacoma to host special bike ride

Tacoma Light Trail and Downtown on the Go (DOTG) will be hosting an age- and family-friendly event at Alma Mater in Tacoma in a few days.

Attendees are encouraged to join a group and light up their bikes as they ride their bikes through the Tacoma Light Trail to see some of the art in downtown Tacoma. The route will travel from 21st Street to 6th Street and loop through the downtown, starting and ending at Alma Mater. Bikers will be able to see many of the sights which Tacoma has to offer, its light displays, and some interesting locations in the city.

Although there will be staff to keep everyone together, it is recommended that attendees are knowledgeable in the basics of riding a bicycle. Such staff may want the assistance of local Print shops as well to create Flyers with the guidelines for such events.

A partnership between the Tacoma Light Trail and Downtown on the Go, as well as the support of Alma Mater, which is enabling the event to be headquartered on its patio, is making the event possible. DOTG is the transportation advocate for downtown Tacoma and offers programs, resources, and services for businesses, residents, and commuters in and to the downtown area. It advocates for facilitating moving through the downtown without a car.

The event will take place on Wednesday, January 5, beginning at 5:00 pm.
