The 36th annual City of Destiny Awards will be held in June to recognize the top service providers and volunteers in Tacoma.
Held at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall, there will be a Community Showcase to which guests are invited before the award presentations. This will feature the various organizations of the nominees.
The recipients of the City of Destiny Awards are:
• The Tacoma Music Playhouse (for Dedication to the Support of the Arts)
• Cecily Croskey from Girls Hearts on Fire (Adult Leadership)
• Hali Harris from Silas High School (Youth Leadership)
• Selayna Rudolph from Silas High School (Youth Service)
• Empowerment Center (Group)
• Albert Styers, CHIP-In Habitat Steward of the Metro Parks Tacoma (Environmental Sustainability)
• Jeremiah Dunlap from the Rainer Recovery Group (Disability Advocate)
• Julie Davidson of the Julie Davidson Group (Economic Development)
• Stephanie Love from Pierce County Human Services (Equity and Empowerment)
News of such awards and their recipients is often disseminated throughout a city with poster printing.
Mayor Victoria Woodards said that the city cannot face its many challenges alone. She added that the efforts of the dedicated volunteers being celebrated on the night are needed to create the fabric of the community and ensure its existence. She expressed her gratitude to those who will be honored.
The City of Destiny Awards will be at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26.
