Tacoma opens nominations for volunteer awards

Nominations for the City of Destiny Awards for Tacoma are now opened. These awards have been honoring volunteers in the local area for the past 37 years.

Local Print shops often assist with printing out hard Copies of such nomination Forms for distribution.

Alex Domine, co-chair of the City Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC), said that these awards recognize those organizations and individuals who give generously of their time and of themselves. Domine added that celebrating and recognizing such people is important to preserving the quality of life and resilience of the city.

Since 1987, more than 300 groups and individuals have been recognized for their extraordinary contributions to improving life in the city. CERC has been making enhancements to its programs so that more volunteers have been able to give their talent and time to become eligible for such a nomination.

The City of Destiny Awards are produced by the Events and Recognition Committee of the city of Tacoma. The City Council appoints people to the CERC who are leaders in the community from a range of areas of expertise and backgrounds. The committee develops the City of Destiny selection criteria and ways to nominate people and groups, selects the winners, and plans the annual City of Destiny Awards event.

Nominations for these awards will be accepted through Monday, January 30 at 11:59 pm.
