Tacoma makes free lunches available in its park program

The Simplified Summer Food Program for Children, sponsored by Metro Parks Tacoma, that Forms part of the Summer Playground Program is currently underway through August 24.

Children who are 18 years of age and younger attending this program will be provided with lunches that meet or exceed the standards of the United States Department of Agriculture for nutrition. Meals will be available every week day on a first come, first served basis from noon until 1:00 pm or until supplies run out for the day. Children can enjoy these meals at six different parks in Tacoma and at the South End Recreation & Adventure Playground and Titlow Park Lodge.

The Summer Playground Program is free and runs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm during the work week. Children play in the several parks and are involved in sports, games, spray-play in the spraygrounds, and arts and crafts so they can have meaningful interactions with adults while still having fun.

The Fife Parks Department also collaborates with Metro Parks Tacoma to offer free lunches and afternoon snacks at Colburn Park. This program runs four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Banner printing companies can be used to inform the community of such services and opportunities and their availability to all members of the community.
