Interim police chief appointed in Tacoma

Patti Jackson is the new interim chief of the Tacoma Police Department. Jackson previously served in the sheriff’s office for over 30 years.

New appointments like this one often call for business card printing services.

Jackson said that having worked for the Sheriff’s Department of Pierce County for over 35 years will give her a new insight into her new role. She ran for the Pierce County Sheriff position last fall but lost by two percent. She said her campaign enabled her to connect with the people of Tacoma which the police protect and serve.

She said she had the chance to get close and personal with some of the members of the community and learn about their concerns and see what issues and problems could be resolved. She added that keeping Tacoma safe will be her highest priority. She said that the best plan is to respond to the crimes and to solve them as well.

The chief of police is under the direction of the City Manager and organizes, plans, controls, and directs the activities of the Tacoma Police Department; develops, evaluates, and implements departmental policies, goals and objectives; and assures the protection of property, lives, and constitutional rights through the enforcement of ordinances and laws.

Although the interim position is temporary, Jackson said she is interested in the full-time position.
