Brass ensemble gets in tune for seventh year

Locals are invited to come out and enjoy some of the sounds of ‘Chicago’, presented by Brass Unlimited and Melanie Stevens, who is a guest vocal soloist at the 7th Annual Sounds of Brass Pops Concert.

This event is also a tribute to conductor and composer Marvin Hamlisch, and Brass Unlimited may have used poster printing to inform the people in the area about this performance.

This year’s event will feature a number of musical scores from the 1975 Broadway hit, but will also have numbers from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, as well as a medley of Duke Ellington pieces, and many other renowned musical groups and shows will be paid homage to.

The ensemble includes consists of 16 brass members and a rhythm section, all under the direction of the infamous John Falshow, who is also the chairperson for Tacoma Community College. No doubt the audience will find themselves swinging, swaying, and singing along to the sounds of the ensemble and its guest vocalist.

This is a free concert, although donations will gladly be accepted. It will take place this Sunday, May 4, starting at 3:00 pm at the Tacoma Community College Auditorium located at 6500 S. 12th Street in Tacoma, Washington.
