The Torchlight Run will take place in downtown Seattle this year along the Torchlight Parade route. This race is timed, and welcomes all entrants.
Participants will receive race packets with their bib and timing chip, information, T-shirt, and more. The timing this year is provided by Tortoise & Hare Timing, which focuses on timing in Washington State.
The course will begin and end at the Seattle Center, and will follow the streets of downtown. The 5K and 8K course are the same, but the 8K does a portion of the route a second time. This will also be part of the parade route, so runners will have a chance to be their own entry in the parade.
Awards will be given for best times as well as best costumes. For timing, there are two categories: adults, ages sixteen and up, and children ages 3 to 15. Children also receive a discount of $10 on their registration. General registration is open, and is $35 for the 5K race or 440 for the 8K.
Events of this type often take advantage of banner printing, especially as there is also going to be a parade. Banners could be used to mark the beginning and/or end of the race, as well as advertise. The race will begin at 6:00 pm on the evening of Saturday, July 27.
