Seattle’s climate means its gardeners can get a jump start on their vegetable beds, and a local sale will make it easier for them to get started.
Tilth Alliance has scheduled its Edible Plant Sale, and it will offer a festive way to kick off another growing season. Those interested will find it set up at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands, and will be running throughout the day.
The plant starts that will be on offer will have been selected by the organizers based on their suitability for the area's climate, and there will be lots of species and cultivars in the mix. They will all be organically grown using sustainable methods, and debit and credit cards, cash, EBT and Fresh Bucks will all be accepted. A list of what will be for sale and the prices charged will be posted as they become available, and they will be between $6.00 and $15.00. There will be volunteers on site to lend a hand with finding particular plants, and the seasonal farmstand will be open.
The spring season often finds garden centers and other sources of plant starts packed with gardeners who are eager to get started. A banner printing company can prepare signage that may be helpful in keeping a sale or other activity organized.
The Tilth Alliance March Edible Plant Sale will welcome Seattle home horticulturalists on March 21st. It will be open from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
