Seattle to celebrate traditional Mexican holiday

Although Halloween is only a handful of weeks away, another holiday is set to take Seattle by storm before it comes round, and a number of attractions have already been confirmed.

The Seattle Catrinas Festival is traditionally held throughout the month of October. However, the single-day event of Day of the Dead will be kicking off the program, and it is expected to draw a considerable audience. This celebration is slated to feature a host of activities suitable for all ages. Some examples include face painting for children and adults, folk dancing, live music, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Day of the Dead is primarily a Mexican holiday created so that families could reconnect with the souls of the dear departed. While still celebrated throughout Central and South America, this same tradition has gained a significant amount of attention in the United States over the past few decades.

Festivals associated with cultural overtones will always aim to resonate with the intended audience. Organizers can use proven advertising methods such as flyer printing, hanging colorful Posters around the community, and offering discounted onsite merchandise.

The Seattle Day of the Dead is being held on Sunday, October 4 from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. All attractions can be found within Westlake Park located at 401 Pine Street. No reservations are needed, and the event is free to enjoy.
