Seattle theater company to stage Come From Away
This summer, Seattle theater fans will be taking a seat for a play that will tell how a tiny town in the province of Newfoundland welcomed the world after 9/11.
The play “Come From Away” has found success in venues all over North America, and 5th Avenue Theatre will be staging performances of the work from July to September. Tickets are currently available, and UBS has provided financial support for the occasion.
It tells the story of how thousands of stranded passengers from all over the world found refuge in Gander, Newfoundland, which was a former Cold War-era refuelling station and Canadian Forces Air Base. The performance explains how everyone pitched in to help, even though none of them knew for sure what was going on, and also how everyone accommodated the mix of cultures and languages. The audience will discover how and why it was the first and only time a monkey was born in Newfoundland, and the work also includes a lively musical score.
Programs that offer more details about a play, its cast, and the backstory are often distributed to ticket holders for a live performance. A local printing services company can prepare these.
Come From Away will be staged at The Fifth Avenue Theatre from July 20 until August 7. Tickets may be purchased through its website.
