Seattle series to introduce art of indigo dyeing

Indigo dyeing methods have been popular for centuries, and a Seattle workshop will offer a two-day introduction to this textile creation technique.

The Silver Studio is set to welcome registrants for its Indigo Dyeing and Weaving seminars, and the items crafted will be both colorful and highly textured. For the safety of the students, the classes will be held outdoors, and social distancing will be followed.

The first workshop will introduce the art of using indigo-based fabric dyes, and the group will gain hands-on experience and use reclaimed fibers. During the second session, the students will use their creations to prepare woven pieces using a frame loom, and it was noted by the organizers that the function may be of special interest to those who are new to fabric preparation and weaving. Even those who have never worked with textiles before can take part, and the registration fee is $183 each.

While a class like this may teach the fundamentals of a craft, offering the registrants additional learning materials will make it easier for them to keep on creating. These may be ordered from area printing services providers.

The first workshop in the Indigo Dyeing and Weaving workshop is scheduled for August 28, and the series will wrap up on September 11. It will be offered at 2564 39th Avenue South in Seattle.
