The National Nordic Museum in Seattle will host its summer festival with the theme this year focusing on the Arctic region. The event will last four days, and will feature music, games, food, and culture.
One of the main events is the PechaKucha, a presentation given by multiple speakers on Arctic culture, tradition, and art, as well as how those are all changing. These speakers will each present for less than seven minutes apiece and are limited to twenty slides per presenter. This will allow multiple smaller topics to be brought up.
There will be a hip hop concert during the event, during which the performers will sing in their native indigenous languages, including Inuk and Sami. Artists will come from places such as Canada and Alaska as well as Finland, Russia, and Greenland. Tickets for this particular event are available for $20 general, $18 for members, or $15 for students.
Saturday and Sunday of the event will have Arctic Sports, or Inuit Games, classes and demonstrations. The classes are free but advanced registration is required. The classes will be led by a specialty athlete who has won several medals and competed in Arctic Sports for over ten years.
This type of event often uses flyer printing to make members and visitors to their events aware. The event will run from August 22 through 25, with specific events scheduled within those days.
