Popular author among Seattles sci-fi guests this spring
Norwestcon 38 is coming to Seattle for four days next month, offering a convention dedicated to science fiction and fantasy.
The four special guests already confirmed for this year's convention include author George R. R. Martin, best known as the author of the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, which is the basis of the TV show ‘Game of Thrones’. The other three are artist Julie Dillon, astronomer Amy Mainzer, and Random House publishing.
There are set to be over 500 hours of panels on subjects like costumes, science fiction literature, movies, and television. There will also be literary readings, a masquerade contest, gaming, the Fandance Film Festival, concerts, and workshops.
The Philip K. Dick Awards, presented by the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society, will be handed out during the convention too. In addition, there will be workshops and a published zine will be available to all attendees free of charge.
Science fiction and fantasy fans from all over the Seattle area and beyond will no doubt want to attend this year's convention. Local printing companies may help advertise by providing products like flyers to spread the word.
Norwestcon 38 is taking place at DoubleTree by Hilton at Seatac from April 2 to 5. A four-day advanced pass is $70 if purchased online by March 28. Call 425-243-4592 for updated information.
