The South Lake Union (SLU) Block Party is taking place next month in Seattle. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Friends of Cascade Park.
The main stage is set to feature a number of local bands including the Beat Connection, The True Loves, and Danny Newcomb and the Sugarmakers. There will also be food trucks, a children’s play area, vendors, and community booths providing information about programs and services offered to residents.
The School of Visual Concepts will be holding the Steamroller Smackdown, where teams of artists use a steamroller to create giant Posters, and the winners will receive trophies. They are also hosting a portable printing parlor where the public will be able to typeset their own posters.
The Best Burger in SLU will have five restaurants competing for top honors. The public can purchase samples of the sliders for $20. The Brave Horse Tavern will be providing a beer garden at which guests can also play lawn games.
Organizers may invest in Banners from a favorite Seattle Print company to highlight certain areas of the festival grounds.
The South Lake Union Block Party will be held at the Discover Center on August 12 from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. To find out more about any of the planned activities, call 206-342-5900.
