What's Happening in Seattle, WA…

Cultural festivals land in Seattle this May

There are two separate cultural festivals taking place in Seattle next month that should attract a lot of families.

The first festival to take place is the 11th annual Pierogi Fest. It will feature many varieties of the Eastern European dumplings known as pierogis (12 cost $10), Polish beer, and other traditional dishes. There will be folk group performances, children's activities, and a craft workshop where people can make their own pierogi. In addition, Polish art will be offered for sale, which will include scarves, folk costumes, and cutout art.

A few days later, is the 17th of May Festival in Ballard, also known as Norwegian Day. The main part of the festival will be the parade, set to feature marching bands, drill teams, and costume; awards will also be given out. There will also be kids' crafts at the Nordic Heritage Museum, musical entertainment, a luncheon, and a big band dance.

Organizers of these events have likely invested in banner printing services from their favorite Seattle printer to help decorate the venues.

The Pierogi Fest will be held at the Polish Cultural Center on May 14 from 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. Call 206-322-3020 for more information.

Norwegian Day is May 17 and will take place at various venues in Ballard. To find out more about the different events, call 206-557-8702.
