Boat show will highlight latest models

The 40th annual Boats Afloat Show is taking place next month in Seattle for four days.

There are expected to be over 225 vessels on display both power and sail from both the United States and Canada. There will be sailboats, yachts, ski boats and many other types.

In addition to the boats on display, there will be seminars, free 45-minute boat rides and classes. There will be a Women’s Docking Class led by Ben Johnson and Jim Lowry. Each 25-minute class will feature information about steering, hull effects, human factors and using lines; 20 minutes will be spent on the water. There will also be 3-hour long adult sailing lessons from the Seattle Sailing Club. Fees are $55 and include two days admission to the show; only 16 people per day can participate.

The show is also set to feature children’s activities such as building and decorating a wooden boat with the help of the Center for Wooden Boats.

Organizers of events like this often invest in banner printing services from Seattle Print shops.

The Boats Afloat Show will be held at the South Lake Union from September 13 to 16. Tickets are $14 for adults and $5 for children between the ages of 12 and 17; a $25 pass is available for all days. Call 206-748-0012 for the most current information.
