Annual festival celebrates summer in Seattle
The Magnolia Summerfest is taking place next month for three days. It is a presentation of the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce.
One of the main events of the festival is always the Seafair Parade. It will be held on August 5 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It will travel from 34th W and W. Barrett, along McGraw and down 32nd Street. This year’s Grand Marshal is Mary Nam. The parade features vintage vehicles, costumed characters and marching bands.
Other activities taking place over the three days include an outdoor screening of “The Incredibles”, arts and crafts activities for children, a talent show and a pet parade with awards. Music will be provided by artists like Asta Wylie and Sunshine from Polynesia. Other children’s activities will include bounce castles, hamster balls and games.
An art show is also taking place. Artists can register until July 15 and will compete for cash prizes.
The Urban Craft Uprising will take place on Saturday and Sunday. It features a variety of arts and crafts items for sale which will likely include handmade jewelry, ceramics and paintings.
No doubt flyers and other printed materials will be distributed in Seattle to help spread the word.
The Magnolia Summerfest will be held at the Magnolia Playfield from August 4 to 6. For more information, call 206-618-1589.
