Snow delays opening of Kennewick wine village

The Columbia Gardens Urban Wine & Artisan Village, was originally scheduled to open in Kennewick before the end of summer, but late August is now the revised timescale for the opening.

Thanks to snow during the months of January and February, construction was delayed on the project. The two winery tenants are now expected to move in at a time of year that will be too late for either to make wine from grapes harvested this year.

One of the wineries, Bartholomew Winery, has had to extend its lease at its current location in Seattle. Despite the delay and the added expense, Bart Fawbush, the owner of Bartholomew Winery, remains optimistic about the move to Kennewick, noting that he has received a warm welcome from the area.

Contractors and developers who are planning major projects can use printing services to keep the public aware of any developments or changes in the project. In the case of the Kennewick project, contractors attempted to work through the freezing temperatures, but the challenging weather made it impossible to stay on schedule.

The Urban Wine & Artisan Village will feature the two spaces for the wineries, as well as a building for storing barrels. It is the first part of a project that will redevelop the port of Kennewick, transforming an industrial stretch into a riverside location that will attract plenty of visitors.
