Richland to offer week-long workshop for teachers

The ASM Materials Education Foundation will be holding a workshop in Richland on improving student engagement.

ASM Materials CampĀ®-Teachers is a workshop held at Richland High School where educators can learn how to make math and core science principles more interesting for their students. The program is for middle and high school teachers in courses dealing with subjects such as engineering, technology, or science. During the workshop, attendees will discover low-cost experiments they can incorporate into their existing lesson plans to grab the interest of their students.

The ASM Materials Education Foundation is a supportive non-profit organization for educators that was founded in 1952. The current chair of the organization is John R. Keough, who is the president of the Keough Family Foundation. The group develops instructional strategies that engage and empower future generations. People can get involved with the foundation by organizing teacher camps, donating, and becoming a volunteer. Companies may also become sponsors for the education foundation.

The materials camp will take place from June 26 to June 30. Sessions held Monday through Thursday will be from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and the workshop on Friday will last from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. There are no fees needed for teachers to join the course. Foundations that hold events like this may use poster printing to share their workshops with educators.
