Richland to offer tactical trauma training

The Behind the Badge Foundation and Deer Hollow will be holding a seminar at the West Richland Police Training Building in early September.

Tactical Trauma Training - Life Saving Education is a workshop where people can learn from three professional speakers about topics on handling stressful events. The presenters will include Matt Quackenbush, Jared Nesary, and Cindi Sinnema. Attendees will listen to presentations that teach them how to build their self-resilience. The lecturers will also cover subjects like handling PTSD and how trauma changes the physical structure of the brain.

The Behind the Badge Foundation is a group that supports the families of fallen or injured officers. The organization was incorporated in 1997 and was originally called The Washington State Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation. Many services are offered by the foundation, such as memorial planning, counseling, and financial planning. The group also created the Law Enforcement Family Network, which is a program that helps people connect with other law enforcement families. Those who want to support the foundation can purchase an item on its wish list or donate funds online.

The trauma training seminar will be on Friday, September 8 from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The meeting is free for all attendees, though people interested in the event should register for the training in advance. Police organizations that offer workshops such as this may use printing services to create marketing materials for their presentations to place around their communities.
