Richland to hold mountain challenge
Richland will be organizing a running event in March at Badger Mountain for athletes interested in challenging themselves.
The Badger Mountain Challenge is an annual activity with a course that takes runners through a natural space offering beautiful views of the Columbia Basin. The event is hosted by the Nomad Trail Runners of Eastern Washington and will have several divisions for people to enter, including a 15K and 55K route. Runners looking for the ultimate challenge can pick the route with 100 miles. There will be multiple hands-off aid stations throughout the course for participants.
There are several rules in place for the challenge to ensure the event is a safe and enjoyable experience for those involved. Everyone at the race will need to put on a face mask at the starting and finish lines. Runners are required to be kind to all volunteers and say thank you to them at every opportunity. Participants must also wear their race numbers on the front of their bodies. Those who enter races such as this may use graphic design services to make unique running attire for their groups.
The Badger Mountain Challenge will be held on March 25 and 26. Runners who wish to face the 100-mile course can pay $145. This year, the organizations benefiting from the event include Friends of Badger Mountain, Girls on the Run, and the Washington Trails Association.
