Richland museum to lead group on hike
This April, the REACH Museum in Richland, Washington invites those interested in geology to join them on a guided hike through local terrain.
The REACH Museum will be holding an expedition for a group of hikers to visit the White Bluffs located within the Hanford Reach National Monument. The hike is about five miles long for a round trip and will have an elevation gain of approximately three-hundred feet. Those who attend the tour will see the unique geography of the bluffs and also encounter wildflowers in bloom above the Columbia River.
Bruce Bjornstad, who is a licensed geologist, will be leading the hike to the White Bluffs. Bjornstad specializes in many fields, including sedimentology, geochronology, and stratigraphy. He also has published a guide book dedicated to the Mid-Columbia Basin and co-wrote another guide book with Eugene Kiver on Northern Idaho and the Channeled Scabland. Bjornstad has been featured on television interviews and has published articles online.
The White Bluffs Hike event will be held on April 27 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The cost to attend will be $97.73 per person, which will include transportation to the Hanford Reach National Monument and lunch. Anyone interested in supporting the REACH museum can donate money online, where contributors have their logo design displayed to show that they helped the museum.
