Kennewick representative gets engaged

Dan Newhouse, a US representative for the 4th district in Washington, which includes Kennewick, recently proposed to Joan Galvin and she accepted. The couple are planning a wedding sometime in the next few months, but have yet to set a date.

Newhouse made the announcement to the Tri-City Herald at the beginning of October. He waited to go public with the announcement until he had told his friends and family.

Couples who are planning a wedding can use stationery printers to create the invitations and save-the-date announcements.

Galvin works as a government relations senior advisor for Kelly Drye and Warren, a law firm in Washington, DC. She specializes in immigration, wildlife, agricultural, and environmental law. Since both Newhouse and Galvin are involved in the government, Newhouse consulted with attorneys and the House Ethics Committee to make sure that they were meeting all ethics requirements as their relationship grew.

According to his chief of staff, Carrie Meadows, there is a separation between Newhouse's duties and his personal relationship with Galvin.

The marriage will be the second for Newhouse, who became a widower in May 2017, after his wife Carol, passed away. The couple had been married for more than 30 years.

Newhouse told the Tri-City Herald that it is "pretty special" to have had a great, long-lasting marriage and then to find a second person to marry.
