4 Paws DogWorks in Richland will be organizing a course in April to help pet owners properly train their canines.
Problem Solving: Loose Leash Walking, Play, and Impulse Control is a two-day workshop where attendees can learn to calm their overexcited dogs through training exercises and conditioning. The lesson will teach students about the benefits of clicker training and will go over relaxation games owners can use to let their animals mellow out. There will also be focus and impulse games held during the course to help dogs overcome distractions and keep their focus on their owners.
The workshop teacher is Sarah Dixon, who has almost two decades of experience as a behavior consultant and trainer. She specializes in complex animal behavior problems, including separation anxiety, leash reactivity, and resource guarding. Dixon is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and has written pieces for publications such as APDT Chronicle of the Dog. Instructors like this can generate more public awareness for their workshops by using printing services to make advertisements.
The dog training seminar will be held on April 24th and April 25th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Working spots can be purchased for $350, while auditing spots will cost $250. Those interested in registering for the program can email Sarah Dixon at dixonthedogtrainer@gmail.com. The lesson is intended for both pet professionals and casual canine owners.
