Rhubarb Days are returning to Sumner for the third year, spanning over two days next month.
It is a fundraising event for the Sumner Downtown Association and, since Sumner has been called the ‘Rhubarb pie capital of the world’, it makes sense that the festival will celebrate this local crop.
There will be pancake breakfasts, children's activities, antique tractors, games, a petting zoo, tours, talks, food vendors, and a beer garden. There are also set to be several rhubarb related competitions, such as a bake off and a pie eating contest.
Local stores are set to be holding sidewalk sales and arts and crafts vendors will be selling homemade items like jewelry, ceramics, and watercolor paintings. There will also be opportunities for visitors to have their picture taken on or around tractors. There should be at least one activity that will appeal to every member of the family.
This popular summer event will likely attract a lot of people from the city, as well as from nearby Puyallup. Organizers may invest in poster or flyer printing services to help advertise it throughout the area.
Rhubarb Days will be held from July 12 - 13 at Heritage Park in Sumner, beginning at 10:00 am each day. To find out more about all activities planned for the festival, call 253-891-4260 or visit the Sumner Downtown Association's website.
