A Puyallup area venue that invites the public to learn about the natural world will be running a series of talks led by its horticultural team, calling in at its botanical garden.
Those who would like to be part of the tour are asked to meet up at the Port Defiance's Zoo and Aquarium's Pacific Rim Plaza, and the activity is included in the admission price. Private tours are also available, but these must be reserved in advance.
The activity will be offered on the first Saturday of every month, and the topic will be different each time. In May, the focus will be on plants that have been in existence for millions of years, and these include species such as ginkgo, cycad, club, and typical mosses and ferns. Many of these have changed very little over millennia, and the attendees will learn about how they have adapted and survive today.
A botanical garden both preserves biodiversity and educates the public about plants and the animals that depend on them. Maps of a venue and its various plantings, visitor’s guides, and other materials can all be prepared by a brochure printing company.
This chance to be part of an outing led by horticulturalist Bryon Jones will begin at 10:00 am on Sunday, May 5. More information about the venue and the other events on its schedule can be found on the zoo’s website.
