Puyallup plans course for new babysitters

Babysitting is a common first job for young people, and a Puyallup class will ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide top-quality services.

The Safe Sitter class on offer this June will provide its attendees with knowledge they can draw on in an emergency situation. Support for the workshop is being provided by Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, and it is intended for kids in grades 6 through 8.

When they walk away from the class, the goal is for them to feel confident in their abilities to care for their charges. Safety skills and preventing accidents will be on the agenda along with tips for keeping children under control and happy. Those will include a discussion of child development, and will be followed by first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. The business side of running a babysitting service will also be reviewed.

Taking part in a class can make it easier for young people to hit the ground running when it comes to their first babysitting or other job. Bound texts, handouts, and other custom-designed learning materials for a session can be prepared by printing services companies, along with certificates of completion and wallet cards.

This learning opportunity for Puyallup’s future babysitters will be offered on Saturday, June 8. It will begin at 9:00 am at 902 7th Street.
